I've been eyeing these in Pinterest for a while now, and decided today to finally make my own!
For such a simple project, I ran into more complications that expected - but live and learn. Regardless, I am still happy with the result!
I started with a plain 4" whiteboard cut into a 2' long segment.
I stained it in Dark Walnut, let dry, and applied one more coat.
I then marked the board 1 1/2" up and at 4", 12", and 20" - this is where I planned to fasten my hose clamps to hold the mason jars.
Though I like the rustic feel of the holders I saw on Pinterest, I wanted mine a bit more polished, so I spray painted my clamps in oil rubbed bronze. (I found the clamps right in plumbing section at Home Depot for $1.47/each - sweet!)
I then used a 1/4" drill bit to break through a section of the mesh on the clamp - this was rough. This metal is insanely tough and my drill smoked the entire time... Not fun, but I got it done.
I tried to fasten the clamps using a drill and screws and it was a nightmare. I finally gave up and ended up hammering them in 3/4 of the way and finished them by hand with a screwdriver. I tightened the clamps around the mason jars and that was that!
To hang it I used two picture hangers nailed into either top side, and anchored it on the wall since it is heavier than I anticipated and I plan to always have it holding water/fresh flowers (even more weight!)
Happy Saturday! xoxo
